Say hello to Andy Gooch! turning a life-long passion for the outdoors into a growing business as the owner, director and Outdoor Leader of Goochi Adventures.
Based in Sussex, Goochi Adventures provides a guided walking service for those who want to enjoy Britain’s beautiful countryside. Our aim is simple; to provide confidence and independence, and be a stepping-stone to enjoyable outdoor adventures.
Goochi Adventures also provide workshops on walking skills and basic navigation. If you want to combine that with learning something new about your surroundings, we can do that too.
Above all, our focus is on improving our mental and physical well-being. There is no doubt that stepping outside can do that!
What particular challenges did you have to overcome in setting up your business, and since then?
We found we had three challenges in particular, including ensuring that the right level of market research and competitor analysis was completed, using reliable yet efficient sources.
There was also the issue of setting up a new business in the outdoor adventure industry during a pandemic! Then we had to try to be seen and heard amongst the huge amount of noise on all social media platforms.
Sounds like a lot to deal with! How does Pandle fit in?
I chose Pandle as I have no previous experience of running a business or book-keeping of any kind. As soon as I was offered it by my accountants, and saw what Pandle could do, it seemed sensible to use this platform. I have not been disappointed – so easy to use.
What do you have planned for your business in the future?
My business is an extension of my life-long passion for outdoor adventure, after a 30 year career in the Emergency Services. I have already started to look for work beyond my own planned events, to work freelance for larger /national outdoor adventure providers.
I also take photos on my walks and adventures, and have sold a number already, so I would very much like to expand the online shop in that respect.
However, the ultimate objective is to enjoy nature and the outdoors whilst passing on my knowledge and experience to give others the skills and confidence to do the same.
