Improvements to Custom Imports

We love automation. That’s a fact. A very well known one around these parts, it’s very unlikely to go more than a day or two without overhearing a conversation regarding how we could automate certain processes for our users.

So, this is why we’re back for the second time this week to shout about our latest improvements to Custom Imports!

With this update Pandle will now be able to detect what the example file columns are going to be used for and then pre-populate these for users, when they are creating their Custom Import formats.

Creating a Custom File Import Format

From the Imports screen users will first need to click ‘Custom Import Formats’ and then ‘Add New Custom File Import’ in order to define the columns of their new Custom Import.

After they have named and uploaded their example file, users will see the following screen:

Improvements to Custom Imports

Previously Pandle would have required users to manually define each column from the imported file by selecting whether it contained a Date, Description or Amount.

This process is inherently precarious, with the potential of errors being made from users selecting the wrong input. This could then cause a myriad of issues further down the line when users uploaded their actual File Import.

But not anymore! Pandle will now recognise and automatically match the correct column with the correct input type from the ‘What Is This?’ column.

Not only that, Pandle will also detect the format for each column wherever possible, reducing the potential for errors and speeding up the process of creating Custom File Import Formats.

If you’re currently using Custom Imports or think this feature may be useful to you then test it out and let us know your feedback, we’d love to hear from you!
